Coffin manufacturer JC Atkinson has expanded its popular Reflections picture coffins range in response to increased demand from funeral directors for imaginative and original design choices. The new range was launched at the recent National Funeral Exhibition where JC Atkinson had a display of picture coffins on their stand.
To promote the new designs, the company has produced two new brochures illustrating the wide range of picture options available for adults and children.
Feedback from funeral directors suggests that picture coffins are becoming an ever-more popular choice for families looking to make a personal statement at their loved one’s funeral. JC Atkinson has responded to the upturn in demand by investing in new printing equipment to improve the quality of the coffins even further and recruiting another designer to work full time in the studio.
Julian Atkinson, MD of JC Atkinson, commented: “The response from funeral directors at the show was extremely encouraging, the positive feedback for the new brochures and designs justified the continued hard work and effort by everyone involved. The Reflections range is extremely comprehensive with designs ranging from the popular fishing scene to football colours. Our bespoke design service is also popular as it allows families to make the ultimate personal statement.”
As well as the Reflections range for adults, JC Atkinson has launched a separate brochure for children and infants. Picture coffins for children have always been an emotive choice for families, and JC Atkinson has found that by offering these design in a separate brochure families feel that the whole funeral becomes a little more personal at such a difficult time.
One of the aspects most commented on by the funeral directors was the lock and key feature introduced on the new children’s coffins. The delicate mechanism allows funeral directors to lock the coffin and present the key to the family as a keepsake.
Julian Atkinson said: “We’ve been making coffins for three generations, but it is small touches in design like the lock and key feature and a continual drive to evolve our processes and ideas that ensure funeral directors use us again and again.”
