The Natural Legacy Hainsworth Woollen Coffin range has been thoughtfully put together to offer a selection of environmentally friendly funeral products that are not only fully biodegradable but offer a soft and gentle alternative to the more traditional materials available.
All our coffins and accessories are hand-made in Yorkshire to the highest quality standards. We use a combination of pure new wool and organic cotton which gives an overall feeling of comfort and reassurance to families, whilst having the quality standard of strength and functionality which has been independently accredited and tested for strength and weight bearing.
Independently tested and accredited for strength and weight bearing, the Swaledale’s unique design combines the highest environmental standards with an attractive and soft feel. Designed to differ from the traditional wooden coffin, it offers a contemporary style with comfortable handling. The concept is completed with a personalised embroidered woollen name plate. All the materials used in the Swaledale coffin are readily biodegradable and suitable for cremation and all types of burial.
The Swaledale
The Swaledale coffin is made in Yorkshire using pure new wool, supported on a strong recycled cardboard frame. Wool is a fibre with a true “green” lineage that is both sustainable and biodegradable. The interior is generously lined with organic cotton and attractively edged with jute and has a waterproof base which is also biodegradable. Available in Natural or Russet. |

Woollen Ashes Casket
The Swaledale ashes casket is designed to complement the Swaledale coffin.
Made from pure new wool to the same exacting environmental standards. The cremated ashes are contained within a strong cardboard container, and the woollen casket is personalised with an embroidered woollen name plate. |

Woollen Child Coffin
The warm and tactile wool outer combined with the soft and padded interior gives an overall feeling of comfort evocative of a Moses basket.
The Hainsworth Junior Woollen coffin is carefully hand stitched in Yorkshire using pure new British Wool, supported on a strong recycled cardboard frame.
The coffins are completed with a personalised embroidered name plate.
A woollen child’s casket is also available.
